About Top Cross Country Movers

Top Cross Country Movers publishes moving cost estimates, route-level moving guides, and records for licensed interstate movers, so you can price a move and check a company before you ever pick up the phone.

Where our carrier data comes from

Every company record on this network is built from public Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) records — the same federal filings that govern who is allowed to move household goods across state lines. We publish what the filings say: USDOT number, MC docket number, operating authority status, household-goods authorization, fleet size, and the carrier's registered physical address.

We do not invent ratings, star scores, or review counts for these companies. If we cannot source a number from the federal record, we do not print it. Federal data also goes stale between filings, so always confirm a mover's current authority and insurance on the FMCSA SAFER system before you book.

How our cost estimates work

Cost ranges are modeled, not quoted. They combine route distance, typical shipment weight for a given home size, seasonal demand, and prevailing line-haul rates to produce a realistic band for a given move. They are useful for budgeting and for sanity-checking a quote you have been given. They are not offers, they are not binding, and no mover is obligated to honor them.

How this site makes money

8 Top Movers is an advertising-supported comparison service. Its ranking reflects editorial judgment, not a measured rating, and featured or network partners may compensate it when you request quotes, which can influence placement. We operate both this site and that one. Carrier records and cost data published here are independent of those commercial relationships.

When you request quotes here, your request goes to our moving concierge and to participating moving companies who may pay to receive it. That is how the research on this site stays free. Requesting a quote is never a booking and carries no obligation.

Our editorial standards

  • Factual claims about a specific company come from the federal record or they are not published.
  • Cost figures are labeled as estimates everywhere they appear.
  • Commercial placements carry a visible advertising disclosure.
  • Paying us does not change a company’s FMCSA record as we publish it.

Corrections and contact

If a company record is wrong or out of date, or you want a listing reviewed, email hello@8topmovers.com. Carrier records are refreshed from the federal dataset on a recurring schedule, and we will correct or suppress a record that misstates the public filing.
